Sing in the choir today! final deadline monday 10th july
The Adam World Choir which is an online community of trans, genderqueer and non-binary people around the world, from Jordan to Russia, the US to Nigeria. We've had a night of international performance at Tramway, an album of original music, a live-streamed panel discussion and are publishing a book of stories by members worldwide. But our main focus at the moment is to create a mass digital choir as part of a show called Adam which NTS is sharing at the fringe.
Adam is a play that tells the true story of an Egyptian trans refugee who finds himself in Glasgow. And the real Adam is having his professional acting debut playing himself in the show which is really exciting. The Adam World Choir sing at an extraordinary moment in his story when he reaches out to trans and non-binary people online and they help him realise he is not alone, they allow him to understand the feelings he's had all along but did not have the language to talk about.
We're going to express this amazing online support through having a mass, global, digital, community choir! We're inviting trans and non-binary people to film themselves (just using a laptop or phone) singing a piece of music composed for the show by Olivier Award winning and Golden Globe nominated composer Jocelyn Pook. Then we will put all the videos together and project them onto a huge screen onstage.
There are parts for all kinds of voice, this is not about being a good singer, it is about creating a loud and proud celebration of trans and non-binary identities. All abilities welcome :)
There is a sing-along track for each part so it's just a case of plugging in headphones in and filming yourself singing along! You can sing any of the parts. Choose the part you are most comfortable with. Sing as many parts as you like.
You do not need to read music, you can just sing along a backing track.
You do not need any fancy equipment, just film on your phone or laptop.
Please send us your best two recordings of your part
